Parenting Program

Parenting Program

Safe Babies Healthy Families provides a vital continuum of care beginning with prenatal services and continuing after the birth of their child. Parents are able to receive on-going parenting education, support and life-skills coaching for 5 years after the birth of their baby. Families are seen in their home on a weekly or bi-weekly basis by their case manager. As a part of this holistic approach families are also connected to community resources. Safe Babies Healthy Families has several unique collaborations with community partners that enhance our services, which include, but are not limited to; the Women’s Center, Bryant and Stratton College and the WOW-Workforce Development Organization. Families receive consistent support during one of the most vulnerable time of their lives and are able to maintain the relationship they developed with their prenatal case manager.

Our professional case management team completed an intensive training program through "Parents as Teachers". This training program is recognized as one of the most advanced, research and evidence-based parenting support programs available. Safe Babies Healthy Families is an accredited affiliate site of Parents as Teachers. Our team has also had extensive training in the Healthy Families program and is an accredited site of Healthy Families America, the signature program of Prevent Child Abuse America. Through our parenting program, each case manager works with an individual family to improve parent-child interaction, knowledge of child development and infant care skills, child health and safety and infant/child emotional health. Children receive age-appropriate developmental screenings and are then linked to related services as needed. As a part of our parenting program, Safe Babies Healthy Families is a Pilot Site for The Early Years Home Visitation Outcomes Project of Wisconsin. This project assures adherence to industry Best Practices in home-visitation by tracking and measuring outcomes for all children enrolled in the project.

We maintain close collaborative relationships with other community resources to best serve the needs of our clients. Sadly, there are far more clients in need of services like these than Safe Babies Healthy Families or any other single organization/agency could serve.
